Feminist Geopolitics (GEO 230) Grace Knicely

I will be exploring how feminist geopolitical women would view how the UK decided to deliver NATO supplies and conducting patrols with JEF partners for Ukraine. It is very cool to hear that countries are coming together and giving what they can in efforts to helping Ukraine due to the invasion by Russia. The Uk and Denmark are working with each other on the battleground while Sweden, Latvia and Lithuania are delivering supplies like ships, fighter jets and military gear. A geopolitical feminist would view this as intimate politics because although Ukraine is in need, war and violence makes a huge impact on the earth we live on and people around us. "Violence is a social relation that is embedded in, and runs through, multiple spaces in a myriad of directions." I believe in this case the focus is rather on humans security rather than state which is what a Feminist would want. The role of violence though in this case with Russia is the wish of control over Ukraine. Feminsts truly just ask the question as to what is violence and why does it happen. I like this way of thinking because it is a good idea to ponder. In this case I also believe that a feminist geopolitical would view this as violence over land.
